While Business of Fashion may have reported back in November 2017 that Balenciaga stole the title as the hottest brand in fashion in the Q3 Index, it seems that Gucci could be making it’s comeback.
Well, it seems that the taste for Gucci is real.
Take a look at your Instagram feed. It’s probably loaded with Gucci merch.
But that shouldn’t be too hard to believe as Gucci simply fell to the number 2 spot. It’s not like the fashion house just fell off a cliff.
Gucci has remained one of the top dogs when it comes to giving what consumers want. And this year it seems to be logo filled products, allowing not only new merchandise to fly off the shelfs, but also allowing vintage retailers feel some of the action.
Vintage retailers like The RealReal, saw a 60 percent growth last year in sales on luxury women’s items that incorporated “vintage logos” which included:
- Louis Vuitton
What Goes Around Comes Around, Co-founder, Seth Weisser says:
“Gucci’s resurgence, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, has resulted in their monogram pieces becoming hugely popular.”
Gucci also was at the forefront of ugly fashion, which of course had and currently still has so much hype.
The new “belt bag” better known as the classic fanny pack is now a sought after item.
Consider this trend ugly meets practicality, which is something you may or may not notice with some of the most coveted items today.
Take streetwear for example. The items you tend to see selling out on on e-commerce sites like ssense.com, happen to be comfortable hoodies and crewnecks.
So what do you think? Where do you see Gucci heading in 2018?
